Légendaire géant à la casquette, au style indémodable et reconnaissable entre tous, voici l'immense pianiste Chucho Valdés et ses musiciens. Lauréat de six GRAMMY® et de trois Latin GRAMMY® Awards, le pianiste, compositeur et arrangeur cubain Chucho Valdés est la figure la plus influente du jazz afro-cubain moderne.
Interprète protéiforme, aussi à l'aise en solo qu'à la tête de petits et grands ensembles, son projet le plus récent, Jazz Batá 2, est une oeuvre exceptionnelle dans laquelle il revisite une idée qu'il avait explorée pour la première fois en 1972 : un trio piano-jazz mettant en place des tambours batá du jeu de pièges conventionnels. Les batá sont les tambours sacrés en forme de sablier utilisés dans la musique rituelle de la religion yoruba, mieux connue sous le nom de Santeria.
