Les œuvres interprétées par l’ensemble Cantatio expriment bien la quintessence des valeurs qu’il porte depuis le début de sa longue et belle carrière.
Sous l’impulsion de son fondateur et directeur John Duxbury, l’ensemble s’est donnée pour vocation première de rassembler de jeunes professionnels de haut niveau pour servir la musique chorale en mettant en avant des pièces moins connues du répertoire. Le Te Deum de Purcell est le premier Te Deum écrit avec orchestre en Angleterre et constituera une référence pour ceux à venir, notamment chez Haendel. Composé pour célébrer la victoire anglaise à Dettingen, l’œuvre de Haendel est constituée de dix-huit courtes pièces pour chœur et solistes dont la brillance vient clore en beauté ce programme.
